On June 13th, 2024, an accreditation team from the Faculty of Surgery, West African College of Surgeons, led by Prof. M. Dauda, visited the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The team, which also included Prof. B. Mofikoya and Dr. O. Olaomi, visited to reaccredit the hospital’s residency training programs in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery.
Upon arrival, the team was warmly received by the Chief Medical Director, Professor B. A. Ekele. They were subsequently conducted round the Hospital facilities by Dr. Amina Abubakar, the Head of the Department of Surgery.
Following a thorough evaluation, the accreditation team expressed satisfaction with the process and outcomes of the assessment. They confirmed that they would be submitting their formal report to the West African College of Surgeons.
