The University of Maryland School of Medicine with the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria (IHVN) on Friday, 16th August 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) Gwagwalada.
The delegation was led by Prof. Mark Gladwin the Dean, University of Maryland School of Medicine and Vice President for Medical Affairs, University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Prof. Gladwin, who is also a physician-scientist, clinician, educator, and academic leader, said the courtesy visit is aimed at establishing partnership in cases of patients with HIV, cancer and Sickle Cell disease in the hospital.
The Chief Medical Director of UATH, Prof. Bissallah Ekele, in his welcome address commended the delegation for the courtesy visit and assured maximum partnership and cooperation with the hospital.
Other members of the delegation are, Prof. Taofeek K. Owonikoko, MD, PhD. Executive Director of the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center.
