The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital has taken delivery of two state-of-the-art laboratory equipment estimated at thirty-one million naira as part of efforts to enhance the operation and efficiency of its laboratory services.

The equipment, a multipurpose automated chemistry analyzer (Selectra) and a fully automated haematology analyzer (Mythic 18) are to complement the existing facilities in the hospital’s laboratory.

Receiving the items donated by DCL Laboratory Products Limited, the Chief Medical Director, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Professor, Bissallah Ahmed Ekele said the machines would bring about a major turn-around in laboratory services and reduce the waiting time of patients for their laboratory results.

Professor Ekele expressed the very sincere and deep appreciation of Management and staff to the donor and gave an assurance that the equipment would be put to maximum use for the benefit of patients, with utmost care and maintenance.

The Chief Medical Director said the hospital management would continue to partner with individuals and organizations willing to key into its window of opportunity to collaborate for effective and efficient healthcare in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.

According to the Head of Information, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Mr. Frank Omagbon, the Chief Medical Director had on assumption of office promised to collaborate with relevant agencies ready to key into the mission and vision of the hospital.

Earlier, the Managing Director, DCL Laboratory Products Limited, Mr. Charles Anyanwu said that with the new Selectra and Mythic 18 machines, the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital was better positioned to run and get results of not less than four hundred and fifty laboratory tests per hour.

Mr. Anyanwu assured the Chief Medical Director that DCL Laboratory Products Limited would continue to explore new ways of adding value to the quality of care being rendered by the hospital.

The event was attended by members of top management of the hospital and DCL Laboratory Products Limited, heads of the relevant departments in the laboratory and some senior laboratory scientists.
