The Nursing Department, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) Gwagwalada, on Monday, January 20, 2025, held a four-days workshop on Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) in Nigeria, organized by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for the development of healthcare in the country.

The four-days BPSO workshop and first of it’s kind in Africa which started on 20th-23rd January, is aimed at sensitizing nurses on healthy public policy, promotion of excellence in nursing practice and providing nurses with a voice to influence and shape public policy.

The BPSO designation enriches the work environment and professional practice for nurses and other health-care providers and a key knowledge translation strategy and funded by the Ontario provincial government.

This initiative is a key knowledge translation strategy and funded by the Ontario provincial government of Canada. Currently there are more than 1500 BPSO’s provincially, nationally, and internationally (RNAO, 2023) .
