The Federal Government has praised the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) Gwagwalada for its efforts in expanding health infrastructure and forming global partnerships. Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammed Ali Pate, highlighted these achievements during the commissioning of new facilities, including a Mental Health Building and Cardiovascular Research Centre.
During the commissioning of the Mental Health Building, Cardiovascular Research Centre, and Senator Joshua Dariye Medical Outpatient Clinic Block, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammed Ali Pate, praised the hospital’s initiatives. He highlighted that these new facilities would provide integrated care services and acute care for both inpatients and outpatients, aligning with international best practices.
Prof. Pate emphasized the importance of these advancements in addressing non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes. He noted the government’s commitment to improving healthcare by expanding primary care, enhancing hospital services, and retraining health workers.
Chief Medical Director, Prof. BissaProf. Bissallah Ekele, the Chief Medical Director of UATH, expressed gratitude for the Minister’s visit and highlighted the hospital’s need for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and additional medical structures.
